Volunteer at Wedgwood Elementary
Volunteering is one of the most powerful ways that families can help our school community!
This year, we are suggesting families set a goal of 5 volunteer hours for each Wedgwood student in their family. This is only a rule of thumb, not a requirement. We are grateful for every minute you can spend helping our school community!
OPPORTUNITIES INCLUDE…
Helping in the classroom;
Supervising in the lunchroom or on the playground;
Assisting the office staff;
Volunteering at school-wide events such as Move-a-Thon, Field Day, or Cultural Night;
Becoming a member of the PTA;
and many more!
Subscribe to our weekly newsletter to hear of volunteer opportunities as they arise!
NON-SCHOOL DAY VOLUNTEERS
No special training or sign-up is needed for volunteers at events that happen outside of school hours, such as:

Fall Dance
Carnival
Cultural Night
STEAM Night
Garden clean-up events
SCHOOL DAY VOLUNTEERS
Before you can volunteer at the building/school grounds during the school day, you’ll need to complete the Seattle Public Schools Volunteer checklist. This includes:
A short online child abuse awareness training (17 minutes)
A review of the volunteer handbook
An application form, including a background check
This process is required for all volunteers who come to the building during the school day, including:
Class parties
Classroom helpers
Library, lunchroom, or recess helper
Office volunteer
Field trip chaperones
After school enrichment chaperone or volunteer
Field Day
Move-a-thon
Mighty Movers
We recommend everyone undergo this process so that you’re approved to volunteer at any event you wish!
RETURNING SCHOOL DAY VOLUNTEERS
If you have completed the above process in the past, please visit the Seattle Public School’s checklist for returning volunteers.
