Walktober | October 1-31, 2018
Did you know that October is also known as “Walktober” and is International Walk to School Month? Similar to Bike to School month in May, the PTA sends home a mileage log with each student via Kid Mail so kids can track their miles.
Turn in your filled out form at the end of the month... We'll see which classroom has walked the most & Celebrate!
NOTE: Any walking counts -- not just walking to school! This is a great warm-up for the November Move-a-Thon….

Art Reflections | Submissions due Fri., November 13, 2018
Young artists get involved through their local PTA or PTSA. A student may submit an entry in any of six arts areas. Only original works of art are accepted. The six art areas are:
:: Literature :: Music Composition :: Photography :: Visual Arts :: Film/Video :: Choreography/Dance ::
Participation is organized by student age and grade levels. Student works are critiqued against others in the same grade division. This allows recognition and judging of artworks by appropriate developmental age and skill levels.

A note from Mrs. Leland:
Did you know that all money for books in our library come from the generosity of our PTA? We recognize that not all schools have a PTA or parent community that is able to raise enough money to give to their librarian. This year, Wedgwood families will have the option to donate of either $1, $5 or $10 for Olympic Hills Elementary during the sale.
In addition, 55% of all book sales at our fair will come back to our school library! Additionally, through its “All for Books” program, Scholastic will match all funds we collect for Olympic Hills Elementary’s library and donate that amount to another school within the US that is in need of books.
*On Friday night, we raise over $800 for Olympic Hills! Way to go Wedgwood Families! Wouldn't it be wonderful to offer them $1000? Please help us reach our goal of providing Olympic Hills Elementary with $1000 for new books in their library. Donations will be accepted through Friday, 11/16 at 10:00am.

Bike to School Month | May 1-31, 2019
Wedgwood Elementary competes with other schools, and classrooms compete with each other to see who can rack up the most minutes of bicycling during the month.
:: Any biking anywhere counts – it doesn’t have to be to and from school. So get those bikes tuned up and those helmets checked and get ready to go!
:: On Monday, April 30, look for a print calendar in your child's school folder where you can track the minutes for the month (you'll eventually turn it in).
:: Wednesday, May 9 is Bike to School Day; if your child bikes on that day, look for booths around the playground where they can sign in and get entered to win prizes. We hope to get as much participation as possible that day.
Have fun! Be safe! And plan to turn in your filled out bike logs on May 31st.
