Carnival gratitude: Thank you, Jenny!

The playground was full of delighted children at our annual Wedgwood carnival on Saturday and we have Jenny Miller to thank for that! She came up with fun new games, organized food truck vendors and made sure the event was staffed with volunteers to make it a success. It was also wonderful to see all of the student alums who came back to volunteer – what positive ambassadors for our Wedgwood community. It’s a HUGE amount of work and it did not go unnoticed. Your Wedgwood community appreciates you, Jenny!

If you have feedback on the carnival, please visit this link to let us know what you loved, or what you’d like to see for next year.

Submit your Bike to School Month tracking calendars!

Congrats to all the awesome bikers for Bike to School Month! Please turn in your tracking calendars either in the magazine box on the table in front of the office or scan and email it to elisasmurray@gmail.com.. We'll tally up the totals and see which class has biked the most minutes. Any biking anywhere counts – it doesn’t have to be to and from school. Download a tracking calendar from the Cascade Bicycle Club website.

Kindergarten Barnyard Moosical, Friday, June 7

A note from Ms. Waltzer: Our kindergarten Barnyard Moosical will be Friday, June 7 at 6 p.m. on the Wedgwood Stage (in the cafeteria). Please drop your student off in their classrooms at 5:40 before finding your seat 🙂 We have made head pieces for our costumes, but other than that students can wear what they want (some want to wear the color that matches their animals). Thank you! Prepare for the adorableness!

PTA Reflections Art Program needs a 2019-20 Lead

Each year, Wedgwood Elementary students participate in the Reflections Program, a National and Washington State PTA cultural arts competition. A student may submit an original entry in any of the following arts areas: visual arts photography, literature, music composition, dance choreography, and film production. The theme of the 2019-2020 competition is: “Look Within.”

Last year, several Wedgwood students were recognized for their original works. Please help us continue to emphasize the importance of an art education by volunteering to lead this effort! This is a lighter volunteer lift: we need someone to keep our community aware of deadlines and submission information, and celebrate our students who participate (which is pretty easy!). Thank you to Renee Davis for leading the program this year. For more information, contact: marmotptaevents@gmail.com

Calling all Wedgwood fifth-grade families!

Is middle school on your mind? Ms. Hoisington is organizing an informal evening on Tuesday, June 18, at 6:15 p.m. in the Wedgwood cafeteria to answer questions that fifth graders and their families might have before entering middle school. There will be a panel of parents from Eckstein MS and Jane Addams MS who will answer questions directly from the audience. Parents, please come ready with your questions! Middle school parents can answer questions about sports, music, clubs, academics, and the overall school experience.

This event is geared more towards parents because students will have an opportunity to ask questions directly to middle school students one day during school hours. That being said, students are welcome too.

Wedgwood Night at the Mariners was a home run!

We had an entire section of Marmots out at T-Mobile park last Friday to see the rarest of rare outcomes for the Mariners (lately, anyway …): a 4-3 win over the Angels! There was kettle corn, cotton candy, Wedgwood on the big screen, and an awesome Star Wars fireworks display after the game. What a fun night for Wedgwood families and it wouldn’t have been possible without Justin Day – thanks, Justin!

The Wedgwood Pantry is available; nurse's office needs kids' clothing

We still have plenty of food downstairs by the elevators at the Wedgwood Pantry. If your family could use extra food this spring or summer, please come take as many bags of food as you would like. The pantry will be cleared out for the summer by June 15, so please come before then if you would like food. If you are unable to come to school for the food, please contact Nurse Sarah and she will help make other arrangements.

The nurse’s office is in need of clothing – specifically youth medium and large T-shirts and youth large leggings and sweatpants. Thank you for any donations!
