Curriculum Night this Thursday

Please join us for curriculum night this Thursday, September 26th from 6:00-8:00 pm. Classroom teachers will be giving the same presentation twice in order to accommodate families that have multiple students at the school. The agenda for Curriculum Night is:

  • 6:00-6:25 Classroom Session 1

  • 6:25-6:30 Travel time for parents

  • 6:30-6:55 Classroom Session 2

  • 6:55 Parents and staff to the cafeteria

  • 7:00 PTA Updates and Voting

  • 7:20-7:40 Principal’s presentation

  • 7:40 Adjourn

Due to physical space issues and staff schedules, we will be unable to provide childcare for Curriculum Night. However, we want all families to attend so please feel free to bring your child (with a snack and a book) if you are unable to find childcare.

After classroom sessions, please join us in the cafeteria for a Wedgwood welcome from Mr. Liu and your PTA.

The Pledge Drive is here!

Pledge Drive letters went home with your Marmot(s) last Friday. This is the first of Wedgwood's three major fundraisers; we rely on our generous community for the time and energy you put into this school, and now we're asking for your financial support. Your donation will help ensure that every child at Wedgwood has access to the best possible education. Your PTA dollars support critical staffing positions as well as supplementary classroom materials, community building events like STEM Night and the Carnival, and enrichment opportunities such as our garden education and art docent programs. Stay tuned for more information!

Want to get involved? The PTA needs YOU!

Thank you to Martina Austin for volunteering to chair the Community Sponsorship role and Janeen Joshi for chairing the Kindergarten Social. We are grateful to you for donating your time and energy to Wedgwood! The PTA is still looking to fill the following positions:

Reflections 2019-2020

Want to help students explore their own thoughts, feelings and ideas AND develop artistic literacy? We need 1-2 volunteers to organize and gather Reflections art projects for the 2019-2020 program! Reflections is a national PTA arts program in which students create art in response to a theme. This year's theme is “Look Within.” For more information visit the Reflections website or contact Chantel Anderson at marmotptaevents@gmail.com. Without a parent lead to organize, students may not be able to participate. Deadline for parent lead is Friday, Sept. 27.

The Spring Auction

We need help to plan Wedgwood’s grown-ups-only party of the year! The auction is Wedgwood’s biggest annual fundraiser, and it also builds community among families and staff. We are looking for a few good Marmots to support or lead parts of the auction, and especially need an Assistant Chair. This role is critical to ensuring the auction tradition will continue. We need an energetic team in place to pull off an event of this size! The funds raised are critical for all of the kids who attend Wedgwood Elementary. Please consider volunteering and email Roshni Hourselt at auctionwedgwood@gmail.com to learn more!

Mighty Movers Returns

Mighty Movers is a program during lunchtime recess that encourages and motivates students to run or walk laps around the track. Each time they complete a number of laps, they earn awesome foot-shaped charms that kids love to collect. They feel empowered and proud each time they complete a lap and earn a foot!

Please help our kids with this special program that gets them moving outdoors. We will be running the program on Fridays from 11:15-12:30 (lunch recess). It is a fun and easy job helping to mark laps and hand out the feet charms. This doesn’t have to be a weekly commitment; please sign up here!

Wedgwood Garden’s Fall Harvest Party

It may be fall, but the Wedgwood garden is more alive than ever! K-2 students’ first lesson with garden docent Ms. Nicole is coming up soon, and to celebrate the autumn bounty of the garden, we’re throwing a party! Our first garden event, the Fall Harvest Party, is Friday, October 4th. Please mark your calendar for an afternoon of fun fall festivities including cider pressing, crafts, a cupcake walk, and more! We need your help to make this garden kick-off event happen, so please sign up here!

Also, our wonderful garden docents always need volunteers to keep it in tip top shape. If you are interested in participating in the garden program by donating plants or materials, volunteering for classes or doing garden maintenance, please contact Nicole at nparish@foxberryeducation.com.

Wedgwood Pantry open for Donations

The Wedgwood Pantry provides free bags of food for Wedgwood families. While we hold an annual food drive for the pantry in November, the pantry could also needs donations now!

The pantry welcomes canned food (soup, meats, fruit, vegetables), pasta, rice & kid-friendly food items (raisins, mac n cheese, crackers, snack bars, etc.). To drop off, just take the elevator down to the basement and leave food in the large marked container. If you have any questions, please email Christina Ellis at penellis@gmail.com. Thank you!

Get in the back-to-school spirit with some new spirit gear! Order forms for hoodies and t-shirts are available on the table outside the front office, or print this order form and turn it in to the office. Orders are due this Friday, September 27th.
