Do you need extra food for your students on the weekends?

Get movin' at this year's Move-a-thon

It's that time of year again… our 11th annual Wedgwood Move-A-Thon is coming up on Wednesday, November 7. It's so inspiring to see the passion and commitment of Wedgwood's students as they run, walk, and skip their way to our fundraising goals! The money our kids raise keeps PTA programs and services going.

Fundraising packets will come home with your student next week. Volunteer sign up will start in late October. Stay tuned for details and consider getting involved … we love our Move-A-Thon volunteers!

Vote yes for kids! Fall election endorsements

YES on Proposition No. 1 on your November ballots

Seattle Council PTSA endorses a "YES" vote for the City of Seattle's Families, Education, Preschool, and Promise Levy. The proposed levy will make seven years of investment to:

  • Double the number of children in quality preschool, who are from low-income homes,

  • Fund K-12 and community investments, including critical school-based health services, Family Support Workers, dedicated resources for the 4,280 K-12 students experiencing homelessness in Seattle, and increasing teacher diversity;

  • Expand access to college for all Seattle high school graduates through the Seattle Promise College Tuition Program.

WSPTA legislative assembly

The annual Washington State PTA legislative assembly is this October 21/22 in Auburn. Attendance is open to all, and participants will vote on the top 5 legislative issues for the school year from among a list including student safety and nutrition, and funding for a) teacher salaries, b) paraeducators salaries, c) family engagement coordinators, d) classroom size reduction, and e) preschool tuition. The list also includes measures restricting youth access to guns and to tobacco.

Thank you, kindergarten families

A huge thank you to all the Kindergarten families for coming together last Friday and building the community of the class of 2031! A special thank you to Jane Moody for organizing and Emma Hess, Caroline Daniel, Erin Gallagher, Mali Hawthorne, and Jennifer Rorabaugh for all their hard work pulling it together. Welcome to Wedgwood, kindergarten families!

Move those feet: It's Walktober

Are you tracking your walking in October? October is also known as Walktober and is International Walk to School Month? You should have received a walking minutes log for each student in Kid Mail so you can track your walking in October. Turn it in at the end of the month and we'll see which classroom has walked the most! Any walking counts -- not just walking to school. This is a great warm-up for the Move-a-Thon.
