What is the Wedgwood PTA?
The Wedgwood PTA is a volunteer-run nonprofit organization that engages and empowers our community to support all students in achieving their full potential.
It is affiliated with the Seattle Council PTSA and Washington PTA.
What does the PTA do?
Our PTA is a vital part of our school! It provides:
funds toward essential staff roles;
tools toward greater educational justice and anti-racism;
classroom supplies;
community-building events;
volunteer programs;
and communication tools to keep our community informed and engaged.
Who can join the PTA?
Anyone interested in the future of our school! Parents, caregivers, teachers, and community members are welcome to become general members.
Who leads the PTA?
Our PTA is led by parents who began as general members and wanted to step into a leadership role.
The Executive Committee members constitute the primary leadership of the Wedgwood PTA. They are elected by general membership vote in the spring of each year. The Executive Committee meets monthly to govern the PTA and to oversee the planning events and programs to increase community and the general well-being of Wedgwood Elementary students.
The standing Board of Directors are non-elected positions for which any PTA member can volunteer. The Board of Directors meets monthly with the Executive Committee to vote on various topics and initiatives. These Board meetings are open to all staff and members of the Wedgwood Community.
What will I do as a member?
Anyone - member or not - can attend monthly Board Meetings.
By becoming a member, you gain voting rights in the PTA, helping to determine the future of our school.
We hope you’ll choose to attend meetings and share your voice!
You can choose to take on additional PTA Board Member or Program/Event Lead roles.
Members also gain discounts to events and travel. More information about PTA member discounts can be found on the Washington State PTA website and the National PTA website.
Why is there a fee to become a member?
As part of our affiliation with the Seattle and statewide PTAs, standard dues are required.
Wedgwood PTA membership dues are $17/person or $30/family.
