Thank you for your PARTICIPATION!

Thank you for joining us in this healthy and fun way to support enrichment programs like art docents, instrumental music, full week library access, garden education, in-school tutoring, instructional assistants, field trips, and more. The PTA has set a target goal of $50,000. If we average $100 per student, we will easily reach our goal!

Pledge envelopes will come home with students after the assembly on October 23rd. Please help your students set a realistic lap goal (1 lap= 1/8th of a mile) and use the pledge sheet to mark down pledges. On the day of the Move-A-Thon, students will bring their completed pledge envelope to school and spend 20 minutes moving with their grade around the track in whatever way they like - running, walking, wheeling, dancing, or skipping! We will record your child’s total laps on the pledge sheet and send it home. Collect your pledges and return them in the envelope no later than Friday November 8th. If possible, try to turn in a single check or donate online, as this simplifies the volunteer accounting. Any student who participates is eligible for prizes, with some super special stuff reserved for pledges totaling $100 or more!

Methods of payment:

  1. By Check. Return the Move-A-Thon Form plus check for the grand total, made payable to Wedgwood PTA, via kid mail (or dropped off in the main office).

  2. Via online donation. To ensure that your student is eligible for prizes, please type your student's name and classroom # in the 'Company' field.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is my child required to turn in $100 in pledges? No. Though we are hoping that every child at Wedgwood can collect at least one pledge, there is absolutely no requirement to do so. Every student will participate on event day, and every student will get a T-shirt as a thank you for moving for Wedgwood!

Why don’t we call it a Walk-A-Thon or Jog-A-Thon?  Over the years we have observed that our kids enthusiastically participate with all kinds of movement. We have kids who roll in wheelchairs, who move with canes or walkers, and who run the laps. We think the name fits our  school community!

How many laps will my child complete? Walkers typically complete 10-15 laps, those in wheelchairs or using walkers or canes complete 2-5 laps, and runners may complete 15-20 laps.

Are the pledges tax-deductible or eligible for matching gifts? Yes. 100% of your donation is tax-deductible. Our school Tax ID number is 91-1260518. Please check with your employer to see if they offer matching funds.

Can I come and watch? Absolutely! Students will move by grade. Scroll up to see the day’s schedule!

Special Thanks to our MOVE-A-THON Business Sponsors:

The PTA seeks the help of local businesses in our community to support our fundraising efforts at Wedgwood Elementary – this includes both our Move-A-Thon and spring auction. Your support will extend to both of these events, and get your businesses recognized in a variety of places, including directly on the back of our Move-A-Thon t-shirt!

:: On Move-A-Thon day, every child and staff member gets an official (student-designed) Move-A-Thon t-shirt! Laps are tallied directly on the child’s shirt using permanent marker, making these shirts nothing short of memorabilia. For more information on community sponsorships, please contact Martina Austin.
