Support Wedgwood Families in Need
VENMO: @Jenn-Rorabaugh - or - PAYPAL: jenn.rorabaugh@gmail.com
Throughout the school year, Nurse Sarah makes sure no family is hungry over the weekend, and this is done through your generous support of the Wedgwood Food Pantry, and financial donations to the PTA. Our food pantry is now empty, as are food banks across the city. We are asking for your financial support to make sure no Marmot goes hungry during this extended time of school closure.
Nurse Sarah will deliver 15-20 food bags to families each Friday over the next 6 weeks. Wedgwood mom Jenn Rorabaugh has generously offered to coordinate this effort and make sure each bag has what it needs, every week. We need your financial support to make this happen. Venmo @Jenn-Rorabaugh or PayPal jenn.rorabaugh@gmail.com to donate what you can to this effort. It will take a lot to fill the equivalent of 120 bags of food, but we know this community is ready to rally for any Wedgwood family in need.
If you’re out shopping and can pick up some extra items, Nurse Sarah’s suggestions are:
easily prepared meals (pasta, sauce, bread, cheese, Mac n cheese, hot dogs, etc)
Fresh fruit and veggies
Cereal and milk
Snack foods (granola bars, apple sauce, crackers, pretzels, dried fruit, fruit strips)
peanut butter & jelly, hummus
QFC or Safeway gift cards
Email Jenn to coordinate drop of of purchased items.
We will keep you updated on our progress here in the Weekly, as well as on the Wedgwood Families Facebook account. Any leftover funds will be donated to Nurse Sarah to further assist our families. If you need weekend food support, please don’t hesitate to contact Principal Liu or Nurse Sarah.
Student Lunches Available Starting Monday
Beginning Monday, March 16, Seattle Public Schools will distribute lunches every weekday at 26 school sites throughout the city from 11 am to 1 pm. All SPS students can participate. Eckstein Middle School is a distribution site, and additional sites can be found here. These 26 sites will become a central location for family and student resource distribution. Grab and go meals are available for students, but students can not stay at the school to eat them because of social distancing guidance from state and local health agencies. At Eckstein, enter and exit from courtyard area near portables through cafeteria doors on east side of building.
Homeschooling Resources
While you stay home and take up the challenge of home learning, here’s a list of resources to help:
List of education companies providing free online subscriptions
Facebook Group for supporting Seattle’s temporary homeschoolers
Resources and ideas for learning at home
Remember to take it easy on yourself. We’re going through a tough time for everyone, and no one is perfect. Breathe, take a walk, and remember that we are all in this together.
Wedgwood Auction Postponed
The Wedgwood Auction, Wedgwood in Wonderland, will be postponed to Friday, May 29, 2020. All tickets bought for the original event will be honored on the new date.
As we all are aware, circumstances are evolving rapidly, and no one knows what the next few months will bring. We will be in touch with more details and/or if anything changes in the meantime. For now, please mark your calendars for Friday, May 29, 2020! Thank you for your ongoing support of Wedgwood Elementary - we are resilient and resourceful marmots! Also, a big shout-out to Roshni Hourselt and her auction committee, for staying calm in the face of these unique circumstances.
