Toy Drive is on Now!

The Wedgwood staff elves are at it again, and this year they’re aiming to make this holiday season bright for every child in our community. Please donate new, unwrapped toys in the bin at the main entrance. Suggested toys are: markers & coloring books, scooters & helmets, LEGO sets, Play Doh sets, and Wii games. Thank you for helping our staff spread a little holiday cheer!

Specialist Teacher Gifts

Wedgwood parent Judy Akalitis is collecting contributions for specialist teachers without a room parent (e.g., Music, Art, PE, custodians, office staff, Lois our crossing guard, and more). With your contributions we will make sure that all WW staff and any teachers without a room parent receive a gift card and note of thanks from the Wedgwood community. Contributions can be made via:

Venmo: @judymama

Paypal: https://paypal.me/pools/c/8kvfgG71Af

Kidmail through Hans or Stella Schiefer in P6 (Teacher Sam)

Please send your contribution no later than Tuesday, December 17th. This is entirely optional. Thank you in advance for your generosity!

While you’re out and about (or, let’s be honest, shopping online), please consider adding an item or two to your cart for our learning garden. Teacher Nicole has made a wishlist of items needed to keep the garden in tip-top shape. Contributions can be left in the garden box outside the main office or given to any PTA board member. Thank you for making our garden a wonderful place for students to learn and grow!

Winter Concert Reminders from Ms. Waltzer

Our Winter Concert: Wedgwood Around the World will occur on December 19th from 5:30-7:30 PM at the Nathan Hale High School auditorium! Join us for a night full of songs in a wide range of languages and dances from cultures all around the globe! The concert night will be split into two concerts with Grades K-2 performing from 5:30-6:15pm and Grades 3-5 performing from 6:45-7:30pm.  Choir will be performing their songs at both concerts!

Here is some additional information about the day of the event:

  • Kindergarten-2nd grade - Please have your student(s) arrive at 5:10pm and follow the signs to their backstage room. Please do not come earlier than 5:10 as there will not be supervision! Their backstage room is where the students will be staying during the other performances (a stage manager/volunteer will get them and lead them to the stage when it’s their turn). After the final choir performance students can be picked up in their backstage room.

  • 3rd grade-5th grade -  Please have your student(s) arrive at 6:30pm and follow the signs to their backstage room. This is where the students will stay during the other performances (a stage manager/teacher will get them and lead them to the stage when it’s their turn). After the final choir performance students can be picked up in their designated room backstage.

  • Choir - Please have your student(s) arrive at 5:10pm and meet in the backstage room marked Choir. After the first show the students will be escorted back to their room for the next show. After the final choir performance students will be picked up in their designated room backstage.

  • There will be a 30 minute intermission between shows so that students can be picked up/go where they’re needed.

  • Please do not come into the theater before the doors have been officially opened. At that point we are still working on sound and need an empty space. Thank you.

  • Please no “costumes”! We wish to be respectful of the cultures we have been learning about.

Thank you! -Eia Waltzer

Mighty Movers Needs YOU

Mighty Movers is gearing up for some cold-weather moving! Students are encouraged to get moving around the track during lunch recess and earn collectible foot charms. Please consider signing up for a shift or two—we can’t get our marmots moving without parent help!

Tech Crew Parent Meeting this Friday

Parents of our musical tech crew must attend the meeting on Friday, December 13, from 6-7pm in Portable 1 (adults only, no kids please). At this meeting we will cover attendance and discipline policies, schedule, and overall expectations. This is a great time to ask questions if you or your child is unsure about participating. This meeting is for tech crew parents only, not the cast. If you have any questions about the parent meeting or tech crew application, please email wedgwoodmusical@gmail.com.

Explore Aikido with Two Cranes

Two Cranes Aikido

Program for ages 4 - 6

Fridays, 4:00 - 4:45pm

Four week session starts Jan 3, 2020, Cost $60

These classes use focused play to introduce Aikido movement and awareness skills to young children. We work on spatial awareness, rolling, falling and basic Aikido techniques. Cooperation and respect for each other is emphasized and learned through various movement practices and games in a safe and fun environment.

Not sure? Come watch a class with your child on a Monday or Wednesday at 4pm! Visitors are always welcome. It's the best way to understand what Aikido is about and whether it fits your philosophy, lifestyle and family schedule.

Call 206-523-5503 or email dojoinfo@twocranesinstitute.org with questions.
