The success of this event depends on YOU! Please sign up to bring a food item, share a game or activity, or help out during the event here. We will also be collecting optional donations of hygiene supplies for North Helpline. A list of suggested items is available here.

Schedule:

  • 6:15 - cafeteria - a welcome from Mr. Liu, students share "hello" in home or heritage languages, followed by a performance from the Wedgwood Elementary Choir

  • 6:30 - gym - demos, including Brasilian Jiu-Jitsu from Gracie Barra Northeast Seattle

  • 7:00 - cafeteria - performances including Wedgwood favorite, the Lion Dancers!

  • Throughout the evening, feel free to wander, explore, and enjoy foods and activities in the cafeteria, hallway (look for student art - thank you Ms. Voelk!), and gym (including games from around the world - thank you Ms. Jansen!), and a quiet space in the library (shout-out to Ms. Leland!).

Black Lives Matter in Schools Week

This week, February 3-7, is identified in Seattle Public Schools and in schools across the country as Black Lives Matter in Schools Week.  This week also kicks off Black History Month. This is the third year that Seattle Public Schools is participating in the Black Lives Matter at School Week movement.

We believe this week is important to educate our students (and ourselves), as we all continue to promote equity and social justice in our schools and communities. Ensuring welcoming, student-affirming learning environments is a focus at Wedgwood and at Seattle Public Schools.

SPS has developed lessons for teachers this week based on the thirteen principles of Black Lives Matter, with each grade level focusing on a different curriculum. The week ends with a school-wide march on the playground on Friday. Stay tuned for more information on the week’s events from your students’ teachers and Principal Liu.

Birds & Bees & Kids @ View Ridge

Please join us at View Ridge Elementary School this Wednesday, February 5th 6:30-8:00pm for another parent information night co-hosted by View Ridge, Bryant and Wedgwood Elementaries.

Award-winning author and speaker Amy Lang will explore how to start an age-appropriate conversation based on your own family values. Fun and funny, Amy takes topics most adults feel uncomfortable with and makes them easy and approachable. She has been featured in the Seattle Times, Dan Savage’s (of The Stranger) podcast, The AtlanticCNN and others.

Tickets on Sale for the Musical — Monday, Feb 10th @ 9am

James and The Giant Peach will be rolling through our Wedgwood cafeteria March 6 at 6pm, March 7 at 6pm, and March 8 at 4pm. Tickets go on sale to the public on February 10 at 9am! All tickets will be sold online through tututix.com/wedgwoodmusical and are $6 each.

As in past years, we expect the shows to sell out – so do not wait to buy tickets or you will miss this amazing show! There will be an all-school performance on Monday, March 9 so that all Wedgwood elementary kids will have a chance to see the show for free. No additional audience members are allowed at this school performance.

It’s Auction Time! Buy Tickets Early and Enter to Win a $50 Starbucks Gift Card

The Wedgwood Auction is Friday, March 20th, 6-10 p.m. at The Mountaineers. This year’s theme is "Wedgwood in Wonderland," and it’s shaping up to be a magical night of food, fun and fundraising!

Buy your Auction Tickets by Feb 14th to enter to win a $50 gift card to Starbucks!

Why do we do the auction? Did you know that the school auction raises a significant portion of the PTA budget, which funds enrichment programs like garden education, art docents, classroom technology, student council activities, and community-building events like the back-to-school barbeque? It even pays for copy room supplies and a per teacher stipend for classroom and curriculum supplies.

How can you help? None of that is possible without you – our amazing community of families. To have a successful auction, we need items to auction off.

  • Vacations – second homes, time shares and boat outings.

  • Tickets – Seats at sporting events and performing arts.

  • Gift Cards – Have a favorite restaurant or coffee shop? Consider donating a gift card!

  • Parties – Host a brunch, BBQ, bourbon tasting, game night, tea party?….the possibilities are endless.

Do you own a business or sell your services? Auction sponsorships are a great way to advertise to the Wedgwood community and start at just $150! Donation Deadline is February 24th. Download the donation form here. For more information about sponsorships, please contact Kristen Chung at  or Martina Austin.
