Wedgwood in Wonderland — Auction!

We have less than a month to go before our annual auction! We need your help to make this a success. Read on to find out more about how you can contribute, and find out what the night will hold in our Auction 101 primer here.

***

Thank you to everyone who registered early, and congratulations to Jeff Delissio, the winner of our early registration prize!  A $50 gift card to Starbucks is heading your way.

What can I do to help?

1. Register! We need YOU at the auction! Please remember to return your RSVP card or register online.

2. Give a gift card! Roshni Hourselt (Auction Chair) will be accepting donations of $10 gift cards to your favorite local coffee shop, on her doorstep (or use the awesome mail slot on her door) -located at 7722 19th Ave NE. If you’d like to donate a gift card of higher value, let us know! We’ll make sure to give it a special label. It’s going to take about 70 gift cards to make this a success!

3. Bake! We looking for 30 desserts to be displayed, then auctioned off and devoured, the night of the auction. Each dessert should feed a table of 10, and can be delivered to the Mountaineers on Friday, March 20th between 2:30-5:30. Sign up here.

4. Volunteer! It takes a crew of volunteers the night of the auction to pull off this event, doing everything from registering guests to manning the bar to packing up items for the winning bidder. No need to buy a ticket – dinner is on us and you can still bid on the goods (just no drinking). Sign up here.

Author Visit: Jewell Parker Rhodes

Secret Garden Books is generously bringing author Jewell Parker Rhodes to visit with our Wedgwood 4th and 5th graders on Friday, March 13th.

Jewell Parker Rhodes is an award winning author of many books including Towers Falling, Ghost Boys, as well as her latest title, Black Brother, Black Brother.  Ms. Parker Rhodes has a gift of writing books on current issues and topics in a way that allows her readers to critically think about current events and the world around them. Many of her books offer a wonderful platform for sparking meaningful discussions between parents and children.

Although our 4th and 5th graders will be attending her presentation, anyone is invited to order her books. To place an order, you may either download the order form or pick one up from the Wedgwood Library.  All forms and checks (made out to Secret Garden Books) should be turned into Mrs. Leland no later than Thursday, March 12th. Questions? Email Ms. Leland.

PTA Budget Committee

The PTA has kicked off the 2020-2021 Budget Development committee.  This committee is looking for a few more people to get involved to bring additional voices and input.

This committee's responsibility is to take the Wedgwood PTA's mission, determine events and programing for next year, then outlining the income/expenses in order to fulfill the PTA's mission.

The committee will meet a few times between now and April 6 to create the proposed budget. If you would like to get involved, please email Ben Nimmergut, b.west311@gmail.com by 2/28.

PTA Nominating Committee
